With the additions of Tyler Booker, Saahdiq Charles and Rob Jones, and already having T.J. Bass and Brock Hoffman, if two of these guys prove to be starter-worthy, do you see Tyler Smith kicking out to left tackle? The coaches could then let Terence Steele and Tyler Guyton, who was a right tackle in college, battle it out on the opposite side?– Mister Taylor/Schenectady, NY**

Patrik: Ah, the seemingly annual offseason question that I'll respectfully accompany with my annual offseason forehead slap and temple rub. There really are only so many ways to explain that the Cowboys do not want to move Tyler Smith to left tackle ever again. If they were ever going to reverse course on that, it would've happened after Tyron Smith left. Instead, they drafted Tyler Guyton and, as a first-round pick going into only his second year, they're not going to give up on him at left tackle. Additionally, they view the addition of Tyler Booker at right guard as a great reason to expect Terence Steele to get back to prime form (he played much better when a healthy Brock Hoffman was to his left as opposed to a one-legged Zack Martin in 2024). Is it impossible to ever see Smith at LT again? Never say never, fair enough, but the odds are higher, at this point, of a meteor striking the Earth than, in my opinion, the Cowboys considering moving their All-Pro left guard out of that position ... when they've drafted another option.

Tommy: Not to say that it can't happen, but I think that's a last resort of sorts for the Cowboys. I think this staff wants Tyler Guyton to be the guy at left tackle, and he needs a lot of reps to be able to warm up into that situation, something that he didn't get before his rookie season started. Additionally, I think Terence Steele is really going to benefit from this new coaching staff because of how their background fit into his skillset. All in all, Brian Schottenheimer is going to throw the best five linemen out there and find a spot for them, and I think that involves Guyton, Steele and Smith all in some combination.
