Mingo on knee injury: 'I have faith I'll be fine'

FRISCO, Texas 鈥 Another week, another injury the 抖阴视频 are forced to deal with this preseason as they approach the end of their summer program with Jonathan Mingo being the latest set to miss time.

The veteran wide receiver suffered an injury to his PCL (knee) that could cost him 4-6 weeks and, given the timing of the injury, will likely result in Mingo being moved to injured reserve with designation to return after a minimum of four games.

"Something felt a little weird," Mingo said on Monday. "I went and talked to [the Cowboys' training staff.] Just trying to go about it the right way."

The MRI results didn't generate the worst-case scenario, but it does take a potential playmaker off of the field to begin the season, shining an even brighter light upon players like Jalen Tolbert, Jalen Brooks, Ryan Flournoy, Jalen Cropper and impressive rookie wideout Traeshon Holden as the preseason prepares to wrap up on Friday night against the Atlanta Falcons.

It has always felt to be a foregone conclusion that Tolbert would make the final 53-man roster, after a solid camp and leading the team in touchdowns just last season, but Mingo's ability to wow in camp did make things interesting for that position's depth chart as a whole 鈥 behind record-setting All-Pro CeeDee Lamb and the human highlight reel known as George PIckens.

"I feel like I had a good camp," Mingo said. "I did what I could do with my opportunities. I did make plays."

One such play was the 49-yard catch against the Ravens, down the sideline when quarterback Joe Milton needed it most, though it's also the play that sent Mingo to the blue medical tent, not to return.

All the third-year receiver can do now is recover and wait for his next chance to prove he's worth the trade executed to acquire him.

If he's moved to injured reserve and designated to return, the Cowboys would be able to activate his 21-day practice window following their Week 4 matchup against the Green Bay Packers which, ironically, gives him a chance at returning in time to face his former team, the Carolina Panthers, in Week 6 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

"It is what it is, because God does everything for a reason, so I'll be alright," said Mingo. "My faith is in Him, so I'll be fine."
