Former Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith, who was out of football entirely in 2024, is returning to the league.

Smith signed with the Las Vegas Raiders this week in an attempt to resurrect his career.

Smith, a second-round pick (34th overall) of the Cowboys in 2016, played five seasons in Dallas and earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2019.

He was cut by the Cowboys in 2021 and he played 20 combined games over the next three years with the Packers, Giants and one game with the Raiders in 2023.

Smith was projected to be a Top 5 pick in 2016 before suffering a major knee injury in Notre Dame's bowl game. He still played 56 games in Dallas, totaling three seasons of 100+ tackles.
